How To Bring Fall Colors To Your Space

Warm colors such as red, mustard yellow, brown, orange and dark green are just some of the rich hues of fall.  Embrace the changing season, by bringing them into your space.  An easy way to introduce these colors to your home is with acessories. Change the color of the candles in your candleholders or the arrangement in a centerpiece bowl.  Fill a bowl on your counter with crisp red and green apples, or a vase on a table with pussy willows. Change the pillows on your sofa to an autumn hue. Use a fall toned runner or placemats on your dining table.  These are just a few ways you can bring autumn colors into your home.  For more great ideas visit www.cheapchicdecor.com.

How To Add Width To A Space

Horizontal lines will add width to a space. For example, painting horizontal stripes on the wall will trick your eye to thinking that the room is wider than it really is. This is a great thing to remember if you are trying to make a small room appear larger. For more great ideas visit www.cheapchicdecor.com.

Decorating Tricks For Space Planning

It is sometimes hard to determine how well an item will fit in a space when you are decorating.  A great trick is to use painter’s tape to map out an area for it.  This works great for a rug, sofa, chair or wall décor.  Taping out the dimensions with painter's tape, where you want to place the piece, will help you to figure out if the item is the right size for the space.  For more great ideas visit www.cheapchicdecor.com.

How To Place Accessories

We are often asked how to incorporate collectibles into a room's decor.  An easy way to do this, is to arrange your items into themed collections. Basically, this means to cluster 3 or more related pieces together in a grouping. For example, hang several landscape photographs together with the same or similar frames, display a set of metal candlesticks and a box of the same metal  on a console, or place 5 pieces of driftwood and shells from your last vacation together on a shelf.  A collection of accessories will make a decorative statement, while just scattering the items around the room can feel like clutter.
