Your Tween Needs A Teen Makeover

Pre-Teen Room

Teen Room

Just like adults, kids need their surroundings updated every few years to reflect their growth and personal style.  Age 8-10 is always a good time to update to a tween room.  This first update can be a bit more involved as you change furniture, carpet and paint to reflect your child’s growth. Tween to Teen is more of a subtle change to acknowledge that your son or daughter is becoming a young adult.  With a little love and elbow grease you can do it without incurring a huge expense.

Moving the bed costs nothing and really makes your teen feel like they are in a new space.  In this room we swapped sides for the bed and the desk.  The teen went from a small laptop computer to a desktop computer that required more space.  Checkout the sleek corner desk, dresser and nightstand from, all for under $200.00, only catch is they need to be assembled.   I'll take a little labor over money spent any time!

The corner desk changed the entire feel of the room and the dresser was a much needed updated from one that was left over from baby furniture!  Other small changes were updating the lamp, wall decor (decorated by teen himself!) and laundry bin.

Embracing Fall Colors in Your Home

What better way to brighten your home than bringing Fall Colors and textures indoors!  Remember, texture adds interest and depth adds richness. Welcome your friends with a beautiful display of pumpkins and Fall branches.  Fill a wicker basket with scented pine cones, pick up a new candle in a vibrant Fall colors for your candle holder. Create a display of glass jars with pumpkins, gourds, squash, leaves and acorns.  The table in your front entryway, your kitchen island, dining room table and fireplace mantel are great places to decorate seasonally.
